WHITEPAPER: Specifications for Qualitrol Extra High Flow Pressure Relief Devices and Alarm Switches
The Extra High Flow Pressure Relief Device (XPRD) shall have a spring-loaded valve with the means of providing instantaneous amplification of actuation force resulting in a flow rate of 12,000 SCFM minimum to protect the tank (see 3.4 below). It must re-close and seal after an operation to prevent moisture laden air from entering the tank. An integral rotatable shield capable of directing the effluent shall be included. A brightly colored indicator shall provide a visual alert of operation and be reset manually. If the XPRD is equipped with alarm contacts, the contacts must be capable of accepting all standard sub-station voltages and be protected from the environment to prevent false operations and failure.
